OpenGL rendering takes advantage of the GPU hardware accelerator, to be honest OpenGL performance is more than I expected.

Re: DelphiDoom 1.0.2.383
I just stumbled upon your doom port a few days ago.
It's not the fact that Doom is ported from C to Pascal language which impressed me but what is more interesting is the software engine and it's features/tricks.
Thanks

Hmm, and I was thinking that the OpenGL version would be ... revolutionary
Here is another fun of software rendering, there are just me and him

IMO there are still a lot of software-rendering funs, OpenGL is great for performance but not all software rendering tricks can be "emulated" as good with OpenGL, eg the invulnerability effect.

Invulnerability effect can be correclty emulated using pixel shaders, but this will drop performance. Also will make the game unplayable without the proper hardware.

Is there a way to use high resolution HUD in OpenGL, or do I miss something?

No, only in software mode you can use hi-res HUD. In addition in OpenGL version you can use hi-res sprites.
